Kimberley Wilton (kwilton@ottenheimerbaker.com)

Kimberley is a third year articling student at Ottenheimer Baker. She graduated from Dalhousie’s Schulich School of Law with a Juris Doctor in May, 2012. She has been an articling student and a summer student with the firm during the summers of 2011 and 2010.

She is originally from St. John’s, NL and received entrance scholarships to Memorial University, Dalhousie University and Sir Wilfred Laurier University. Kimberley also received a Centenary of Responsible Government scholarship from the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador. She graduated from the University of Toronto with degrees in Psychology and Middle Eastern Studies, specializing in modern Islamic studies. Kimberley also holds a B.A. in English from Memorial University, where she was named to the Dean’s List, awarded the A.C. Hunter Price for graduating the highest in the English Department, and awarded the George M. Story Medal in the Arts for demonstrating both academic excellence and a strong commitment to serving the university and the community, and was nominated for the Chancellor’s Award. Kimberley is also an accomplished writer, winning the Newfoundland Arts and Letters Award for Poetry. She has published two poetry books and is currently working on her volume of poetry. Her essay on the effects and medical liability of SSRIs in children was published in The Dalhousie Journal of Legal Studies, where she served as Editor Manager for two years. As an advocate of removing the stigma surrounding mental health, one of her essays was published in the book Out Loud, which was the winner of the 2010 Canadian Mental Health Association Media Award and a finalist for APMA Best Atlantic–published book award.



Allison Wade (awade@ottenheimerbaker.com)

Allison is entering her third year of law school at the University of Ottawa and was a summer student with Ottenheimer Baker in 2011.

Allison is originally from St. John’s, NL and graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 2008 with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts in French. She was named to the Dean’s List of both the Faculty of Business Administration and the Faculty of Arts from 2005-2008. Allison also received the Eric Briffett Small Business Scholarship and the Browning Harvey Limited Scholarship from the Faculty of Business Administration for demonstrating both academic excellence and leadership ability. Allison believes strongly in community involvement, and has been an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society and the Association for New Canadians in both St. John’s and Ottawa.



Trent Skanes (tskanes@ottenheimerbaker.com)

Trent is an articling clerk at Ottenheimer Baker after completing his second year of studies at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law. He expects to receive his Juris Doctor in 2013.

Originally from Gander, Trent received the Memorial University Gold Medal in business administration in 2007 for the highest marks in his Bachelor of Commerce (Co-operative) program. He was a Rhodes Scholarship finalist in the same year. Before going to law school, Trent completed the Canadian Securities Course and was a project manager for a marketing agency in St. John’s. Trent was named to the University of Ottawa Dean’s Honour List in 2011 and 2012, focusing his studies in business law. Trent also represented his law school at the 2011 American Bar Association Negotiation Competition after winning the regional round of negotiations.

Trent is recently the beneficiary of the Law Foundation of Newfoundland and Labrador Scholarship and the McMillan Upper-Year Scholarship in business and tax law studies.
