A world of experience, at your doorstep
Ottenheimer Baker - Carrer Opportunities

As an undergraduate or recent graduate the decisions you make as you start your career will have a significant impact on your work and personal life. As Newfoundland and Labrador’s largest independent law firm, Ottenheimer Baker presents an impressive record and notable reputation for the work we do for our clients. However, it's our people, our relationships with our clients and each other and our attitude that really set us apart.

We recruit people who are not only academically accomplished and passionate about their profession, but also capable of a broader perspective, people who are comfortable working as a team and mindful of how they treat people. Our lawyers chose Ottenheimer Baker for the quality of our practice and client base, for our philosophy that fosters collegiality and teamwork, because they wanted to have a life outside of the office, and for the exceptional quality of life in Newfoundland and Labrador. That combination when found is a rare opportunity.

Ottenheimer Baker’s Articling Program is offered to students who have successfully completed two years of law school. Articled clerks will often join us for three months of articling between the second and third year of their legal studies and return for their final nine months after completion of third year. Students may also join us after completing law school for twelve months of continuous articles. We also offer opportunities for students who have completed their first year of law school as a means to offer invaluable hands on experience of working life in a large law firm.

Students enter into articles with one of our Partners who will act as the student's Principal. Mentoring is important to us, as most of our lawyers came to the firm through our Articling Program which is critical to the firm's ongoing growth. Our program enables you to find out what it's like to work at Ottenheimer Baker, providing a balance of legal work, structured training and skills development. Our student's Principal works hand in hand with our Articling Committee to ensure that every student receives the broadest exposure to all areas of practice.

Our compensation package is extremely competitive, with a graduated structure that ensures that your earnings reflect your accumulated achievements and experience.
